3-1 Cav. Regt. Seizes EFP Cache

Cache was seized by Soldiers from Troop C, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, in Jurf Nadaf, Iraq, a town southeast of Baghdad, Feb. 8.

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – Soldiers from Troop C, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, seized an explosively-formed penetrator cache in Jurf Nadaf, a town southeast of Baghdad, due to a tip from a Sons of Iraq member, Feb. 8.

The cache consisted of 13 EFPs, one shape charge, 37 blocks of C4 explosive, 13 blasting caps, one 62 mm mortar tube and one 40 mm rocket-propelled grenade launcher.

The 3-1 Cav. Regt. is assigned to the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division from Fort Benning, Ga., and has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom March 2007.
