BESMAYA, Iraq – Besmaya Range Complex here received a shipment of 5 - two and a half ton trucks, M35A2 Deuce and a-half, from Taji, Iraq, Feb. 6.
The vehicles will be issued to a brigade that is going through Unit Set Fielding, a process that trains and equips entire army brigades.
The trucks were being staged at the Iraqi National Depot in Taji, Iraq, until a requisition was placed to issue these vehicles in support of Unit Set Fielding.
Trucks such as these are purchased via Foreign Military Sales or the Iraqi Security Forces Fund. Foreign Military Sales is a program that allows the government of Iraq to purchase military equipment and supplies with its own money from foreign countries, including the United States.
The Iraqi Security Forces Fund program manages purchases of defense articles such as vehicles, weapons, ammunition, and services with U.S. appropriated funds. The ISFF system provides a tried and trusted way of placing orders for equipment in a transparent manner.
