Back On American Soil

Well, he finally made it. His journey started on December 14 and 7 flights later at 3:20 PM today Chris arrived. It was such a wonderful sight to see him walk through the doorway. We actually got gate passes and were able to meet him at the gate. He wasn't expecting to see us until he got on the other side of security so needless to say he was shocked when he walked down the tunnel and saw a banner that said "Welcome Home 1 Lt. Christopher Scogin". He said he saw the banner and thought it was cool and then realized it was for him.

He looks great and has lost some weight but it was quite obvious how happy he was to be back on American soil. The first thing he wanted to do was go eat Mexican food...go figure. We all had a nice meal and I couldn't help but keep staring at him the whole meal...I had to keep pinching myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. I'm so happy to have him home again...at least for 18 days.

It's very humbling to see what a soldier's family is prepared to do to help others. I am sure you will all have a very special Christmas. Take care and thankyou so much from kiwi2b in New Zealand.
