Sons of Iraq Turn in Cache to Coalition Forces

FORWARD OPERATING BASE HAMMER, Iraq – Sons of Iraq members from al Dura'iya turned in a small cache to Soldiers at Combat Outpost Carver, March 16.

Soldiers from Company B, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment have been working with the SoI to secure the area since their arrival there a month ago.

The cache contained one surface to surface missile, two blasting caps, one Apache rocket shell, one 185 mm munition and a large caliber machine gun barrel. The munitions were in poor condition.

The 1-15 Inf. Regt. is assigned to the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, from Fort Benning, Ga., has been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom since, March 2007.
