Top Ramen Is Gourmet

We heard from Chris yesterday and as always, he was bubbly, happy and upbeat. He is doing great and was quite excited that he finally got some mail. For some reason he has not received anything for almost three weeks, although we have continued to send at least one package a week. He said the other day that he was having to go back and recycle old boxes. He says the munchies and food he gets in his care packages are usually gone in a couple of days. He now classifies Top Ramen as gourmet. The other headline news was that they recently got a port-a-potty at the COP. It's amazing what things are suddenly great news! Five years ago, I would have never thought that Chris would be proud of a port-a-potty!

He was hoping to have a short day on Sunday and maybe get a little time off on Monday. He continues to thoroughly love his job and really feels that he is helping make a difference. Chris has a great deal of respect and admiration for the others in his troop and other Soldiers he works with. I now know the true meaning of Band of Brothers. He is getting quite anxious for R&R, as are we. 205 long days have passed since we said goodbye and we can hardly wait to see him again.

I would like to say thank you again for all those that are helping Chris through this deployment. He is very positive and has a great outlook on things and that is in part due to the tremendous support that he has received. Thanks!
