Hammer DFAC Sponsors Wing Eating Contest

It just so happens that Lt. Nick James and Lt. Wilford Garvin were Chris' two roommates in Columbus. The were like the Three Stooges. I'm sure if Chris would have been at FOB Hammer he would have been participating as well. Nick is like a brother to Chris so it was wonderful seeing his picture today. I haven't been fortunate enough to run across any pictures of Chris but finding one of Nick really put a smile on my face. It was really awesome to see him having a little fun time and it was great to see him looking so good.

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Nick James, the executive officer for Bravo Troop, 3rd Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, from East Williston, N.Y., tears into another wing during the hot wing eating contest held at the Hammer Dining Facility at Forward Operating Base Hammer Sept. 28. James competed against 11 Soldiers from the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team and one airman assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion to see who could eat the most wings in five minutes.
U.S. Army 1st Lt. Josh Larson, the executive officer of Headquarters Troop, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, from Augusta, Ga., prepares to eat another wing during the hot wing eating contest held at the Hammer Dining Facility at Forward Operating Base Hammer Sept. 28. Larson ate 24 wings in five minutes besting 11 other Soldiers from the 3rd HBCT and one airman assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion. “I had a great time,” said Larson. “I had some of my Soldiers cheering me on and letting me know when I was falling behind. Just so everyone knows, I smashed everyone in this contest.”

U.S. Army 1st Lt. Wilford Garvin, the liaison officer for the 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, Long View, Texas, digs in during the hot wing eating contest held at the Hammer Dining Facility at Forward Operating Base Hammer, Iraq, Sept. 28. Twelve Soldiers from the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team and one airman assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion competed to see who could eat the most wings in five minutes.

Spc. James Dunbar, a medical supply technician with Bravo Company, 203rd Brigade Support Battalion, from Augusta, Ga., picks up another wing as Soldiers around him cheer him on during the hot wing eating contest held at the Hammer Dining Facility at Forward Operating Base Hammer Sept. 28. Dunbar competed against 11 Soldiers from the 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team and one airman assigned to the Brigade Special Troops Battalion to see who could eat the most wings in five minutes.
