Pfc. Awa P. Gasper, 2nd Platoon, Company A, 1st Battalion, 15th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort. Benning, Ga., was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart for an injury suffered during an assault of a suspected sniper position in Salmon Pak Sept. 29. Col. Roger Cloutier, 3rd Inf. Div., G3, pinned the medals on Gasper at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
